What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?

Counselling & Psychotherapy offers a confidential and supportive place in which to explore and reflect upon life events, behaviour, thoughts, and feelings in collaboration with a professional who is able to listen and empathise with your unique situation. This can be helpful when facing difficulties such as bereavement and loss, health issues, or problems within relationships. At times, such challenges can feel out of our control or overwhelming, leaving us feeling lost, stuck, resentful or unable to cope. Counselling provides the space in which to process your experience and find a way through difficult times.

Counselling & Psychotherapy can also be helpful to those of us living with stress, anxiety, depression and identity issues; struggling with feelings of shame, guilt or fear; or when seeking a better work/life balance or to improve our well-being. Through a collaborative and explorative therapeutic process, you can open yourself up to a new level of understanding, find acceptance or resolve to make changes, ultimately reconnecting with or discovering your true self.

What to expect?

Confidential and supportive sessions

I provide counselling and psychotherapy to individuals in a calm, confidential and supportive setting. My counselling experience is diverse and includes working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress and identity issues. I have helped people experiencing difficulties as a result of relationship, health and work issues; loss, trauma, abuse and much more.

I work in a person-centred way which simply means I relate to people in an open, empathic and non-judgemental manner to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. Alongside this, I take an integrative approach in which I draw upon a range of theories and models to help understand and explore the issues that may have brought a person to counselling.

What I offer

Make a change

I offer open-ended therapy, generally lasting between six sessions to one year or more, depending on the client’s concerns and goals for therapy. Short-term counselling can be useful when focussing on a specific issue or life event. Longer-term psychotherapy may suit you better if you would like to make changes at a more profound level.
